How to become the person you want to become? Now we all have heard the phrase “Act as if” but what exactly does that mean to “Act as if”? Here’s what it means.
Think about your future self, think about the person you want to become or the person you want to be in 10 to 20 years and you get a pen and paper and you jot down what are the qualities of this particular person, what time do they wake up, who do they hang out with, what their social circle look like, what are their habits and what does their life look like. Now what you need to do is start becoming that person. The perfect you has the life you want. The perfect you have created the life you want. When you sleep up late, wake up late or treat a person in such a way you shouldn’t ask yourself “Will the future me do those?” What it does is it makes you start create the habits that you need to become that perfect version of yourself.
In life, you’re either a passenger or a pilot, you got that choice. This is one of the biggest choices you’ll ever make. Are you defining what direction you’re moving in or are you letting other people make the biggest decisions of where you’re going? See at first, it’s more comfortable being the passenger. You sit back, relax, and have people serve you. It feels easier. It feels more natural, but then as time goes by you look outside the window and you realize you’ve ended up somewhere that you didn’t want to be. Then you start blaming people around you. Blaming people who made those decisions for you. Blaming people who should take responsibility for where you’ve ended up. Sometimes you feel lost, confused and wonder how you ever got there. And in that moment, at that time you’ve got this important choice to make. You can either switch seats grab hold of the steering wheel and start guiding your life or remain a passenger. You can’t be both which one are you?
“All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me…. You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”
