First of all, I am extremely sorry for such a delay in post. You guys would soon be updated about all the new things going on and we have a surprise for you, but you would have to bear with us for bit long. (Let’s talk about it later.)
So, let’s began with our todays topic, “What Happens If You Don’t Shut Down Your Computer Properly?”
Turing off things are mostly easy, like taking keys out or simply press a switch and it’s done. For some reasons turning off a PC or a laptop is not the same thing.
Why we couldn’t simply press the power button?
Why is this so complicated?
Why does the pc have to go through some steps to shut down, which can even take hell lot of time occasionally?
What happens when you force shut down a system?
Well it turns out that there is a method to do it. When you turn off your system, then the computer goes through a series of step to ensure that your data is safe. Abruptly shutting the system might result to loss of unsaved data. There are many things going in background which the computer needs to handle before it shuts down. Most important among this is the operating system itself and it also send message to every running program to wrap up everything before shutting down. This is important as these programs or services may be in middle of saving data to your disk, this could be simply saving files, program update, driver update, file download or modification of a registry key. So, if you turn off your computer directly then there are chances of data loss. A half-written data will certainly result to corrupt files and programs. Plus, there are chances of loss of existing saved data as it was being modified.
You might see a black screen which show disk check if you force shut down a PC or in case of a power outage.
So, what is the biggest reason as to why people force shut down a system.
On some devices system update may take a lot of time and during that time a system is practically unusable. There is also a reason while the screen shows not to shut down the pc.
Turning off a system during a normal task might result to loss of unsaved data but power outage or force shut down during system updates may result to half written registry files or corrupt windows.
So make sure you don’t force your system to shut down.
